Ms. Meka Nism has won the Songwriter's Showcase of America Award for MOST UNIQUE STYLE presented at the DELAND ORIGINAL MUSIC FEST 2025.

So, this song is very important to me and all the more than 20 wonderful people who helped put it all together.
This song is for our dear friend Tony Aponte as we are still mourning the loss of such an incredible, brilliant person.
This song is supported by Tony's Mom and family to make happen.
It was a hard song to record, more than 30 sessions went into it, even from sheer vunerable challenges and emotions and needing the performances to express all this emotion properly.
We hope this song provides a space to process, to feel, to ultimately heal, if even just a little, as we all have lost someone too soon.
Tony is with us, this song proves it.

The Executive Board of the Central Florida Musicians' Association recently appointed Ms. Meka Nism to fill a vacant spot. Welcome aboard! Meka joined Local 389 in 2023 and is excited to be a part of the leadership team. Here's a little more about her:
Ms. Meka Nism is a GRAMMY® ️Nominated Artist and multiple award-winning vocalist, songwriter, emcee and stage performer. She is best known for her dynamic presence as frontwoman/founder of the melodic metal band, Meka Nism and for her work with Alice Cooper in the Rock for Children band. Ms. Meka Nism has toured across the US and performed her original opera metal compositions at Carnegie Hall in NYC. Globally, she has played and recorded “The War Inside” album in Germany and performed over 150 shows across Japan as an acoustic avant-garde artist and with J-pop/punk group, Origami Girls. She is Internationally and locally recognized by press and honors including the Orlando Weekly Best Of Awards, Songwriter Showcase of America, Florida Songwriters Association, Kobe Matsuri and the World Entertainment Awards. Ms. Meka Nism currently serves as a National Trustee of the Recording Academy/GRAMMYs® and is excited to bring an alternative perspective and enthusiasm to the AFM 389 board to support our incredible music community. Ms. Meka Nism begins the year in Austin, Tx at STUDIO HILL for rehearsals for a very special project in the works that will be recorded in LONDON at ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS in JAN 2026 - the off the LOS ANGELES for NAMM and GRAMMY week. It will be an exciting and wonderful year for sure! The adventures will be shared occasionally on IG & FB. *^*^*^^*
